Madrid

Anyone who visits Madrid immediately falls in love with the city. Maybe because it’s one of the most beautiful, exciting and welcoming cities in Europe. Or it may be because the madrileños, as the locals are known, are humble and open, and always empathetic with those who visit their wonderful town.

Sitting right in the center of the country, Madrid boasts wonderful mountains just a few miles outside the city and is within driving distance to beautiful towns like Toledo, Salamanca, Avila or Segovia.

Madrid offers a world of possibilities to learn a language and be a part of unique experiences.

There are no shortage of things you can do to enjoy this cosmopolitan city, both during the day and night.

Going for tapas is the national sport. If you want to blend in with the locals, never turn down the opportunity for a proper pub crawl in one of the city center neighborhoods; you won’t find a better atmosphere than at Barrio de las Letras, Malasaña, La Latina. In this last one, precisely, you’ll get to enjoy the most renowned open air flea market in the country, El Rastro. Every Sunday morning you can find anything you can imagine for sale by independent artists and souvenirs brokers. If you are into vintage clothing, old antiques, cool furniture, etc. this is your place.

If you enjoy long walks, running, or biking, Retiro Park will be your favorite spot in the city. An oasis in the middle of the city, it boasts many trees that are over 100 years old, beautiful gardens, and a huge lage in the center in which you can enjoy a relaxing boat ride. There are always artists and musicians performing in the park, so you can always catch a great tune or an entertaining puppet show.

Being a city rich in history and arte, Madrid is home to some of the most highly regarded museums in the world: El Prado, Reina Sofia, Thyssen Museum…

But if the day can get hectic with such a slew of plans, nights are not any less dynamic in the city. You’ll be amazed at the amount of bars, pubs, rooftops and open terraces with life music, as well as full blown clubs and festivals. If you love dancing and enjoying a drink at night, Madrid is your city.

Make the most of your experience complementing your Spanish course with unique experiences such as Flamenco, Cooking or Art Classes, or traveling around Spain, even doing the mystical Camino de Santiago accompanied by a Spanish teacher, and many other options …

Madrileño stew and tripe are the two most typical local dishes. Going for tapas in the neighborhoods of Lavapies, La Latina, Chueca or even Malasaña is more than an obligation once you are in Madrid. But you cannot miss the delicacy of the quite strange yet delicious fried calamari sandwich from bars in Plaza Mayor. In case you are looking for actual recommendations, jot down: Botín Restaurant (the oldest in the world according to the Guines World Book of Records), Diverxo (a modern gem run by famous Michelin star chef David Muñoz) or the ever present marketplaces os San Miguel, San Anton or San Ildefonso. Make the most of your experience complementing your Spanish course with unique experiences such as Flamenco, Cooking or Art Classes, or traveling around Spain, even doing the mystical Camino de Santiago accompanied by a Spanish teacher, and many other options …

The Spanish Way Reviews

I was even more impressed by seeing how Sergio cares about his students. He was so helpful all along the way. Even after I move to Cadiz and started the school he would text me to know how things were going and he provided me with a lot of nice tips and recommendation about Cadiz and Spain in general.

I have always loved learning new languages and after English and German, I decided to go with tarted Spanish, assuming that being Italian would be much easier, but I was wrong. I was able to read and understand the general meaning but I had issues in speaking
